Conditions women may ask about
Patients may ask about ketamine in the context of difficult-to-treat depression, certain postpartum or perinatal mood concerns, fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain, pelvic pain syndromes, or other chronic pain conditions. The quality of evidence varies substantially by condition.
Individualized screening matters
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, reproductive planning, cardiovascular history, psychiatric history, medications, and the underlying diagnosis can affect whether ketamine is appropriate. These issues should be discussed directly with the treating clinician.
A careful approach to claims
We do not present ketamine as a guaranteed treatment for fibromyalgia, pudendal neuralgia, postpartum depression, or other women’s health conditions. A consultation focuses on the available evidence, the patient’s history, and reasonable alternatives.
Coordinated care
When appropriate, ketamine treatment may be coordinated with psychiatry, primary care, obstetrics/gynecology, pain management, physical therapy, or psychotherapy.
